Job description

Proudly recognized as a Great Place to Work®, we are an AI-native customer experience platform purpose-built for emerging markets. With more than 25 years of conversational AI research and development, we serve over 5,000 enterprises across MENA and are pioneering sovereign, agentic AI through our Agentic Studio platform. As the category takes shape, the way Unifonic is perceived — by buyers, analysts, media, and the broader market — is a strategic asset. This role owns that perception.

We thrive on creativity, collaboration, and fun, where every idea is welcomed and celebrated. As shareholders in the company, we’re more than just communicators—we’re innovators shaping the future together. We are Unifones. Join us and be part of something extraordinary!

Meet the team!

Our Engineering team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the systems and technologies that drive Unifonic’s solutions. We work closely with other departments to ensure our products and services meet the needs of our customers. If you are passionate about technology and are excited about working on cutting-edge communication and engagement solutions, we want you on our team.

The Engineering Manager, Software Quality holds a crucial position in ensuring that the performance of our products and product integrations maintains high quality at all times. This role is responsible for leading a team of SDETs (Software Development Engineers in Test), creating test strategies for complex projects with remote teams, and driving automation and AI-native testing frameworks. This role reports to the Senior Products Director and works closely with them to execute our test strategy.

Help us shape the future of communication by:

  • Leading, coaching, and growing a team of SDETs — including hiring, performance management, and career development.

  • Supporting multiple scrum delivery teams with estimation, planning, and strategy for testing Web and Mobile applications.

  • Owning the Release Management process across products.

  • Owning test (case) coverage, and test and defect reporting and metrics.

  • Establishing and scaling our automated testing frameworks for UI and API test automation.

  • Advocating for QA best practices across the development and engineering teams, and establishing lightweight checks and balances to prevent regressions and production issues.

  • Defining and evolving QA practices for AI-native features, including validation of LLM/agent outputs and testing of agentic workflows.

  • Organizing and leading special initiatives as a member of the engineering team — improving process, investigating and qualifying tools, and developing test frameworks or techniques to benefit future projects.

Job requirements

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of relevant development or testing experience, including 7+ years in quality roles testing and automating large-scale, customer-facing systems with sophisticated distributed integrations.

  • 3+ years managing SDETs responsible for qualifying features through the complete software development lifecycle.

  • Excellent knowledge of QE automation architecture, methodologies, processes, and tools.

  • Hands-on experience building QE automation frameworks for both frontend and backend applications (e.g., Cucumber, Selenium, Rest Assured, TestNG, SOAPUI).

  • Experience creating multiple test frameworks from scratch; proficiency in Java or Python, and familiarity with databases, SQL, and scripting languages.

  • Understanding of REST and RESTful services.

  • Experience working with remote and distributed teams.

  • Experience working on Agile (Scrum) teams.

  • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams within your area of responsibility.

  • Ability to drive efficiency through process improvement and automation, increase test coverage, reduce customer-impacting defects, make risk-based decisions, and mentor engineers on the team.

  • Ability to build, drive, and support an automation test strategy, with a focus on delivering great software quickly, efficiently, and with growing quality.

AI Proficiency:

  • Minimum Level: L5 — Advanced proficiency in AI tools with the ability to apply AI effectively across QA, test automation, defect analysis, test data generation, and quality-risk assessment.

  • Expected: Use AI to generate and expand test cases from requirements, accelerate automation development and debugging, analyze logs and defects, generate edge-case test data, and evaluate coverage and release-quality metrics.

  • Strong understanding of testing AI/agent-based features, including hallucination detection, grounding, guardrails, fallback behavior, and prompt-injection resistance. Experience with tools such as Claude is required. AI-generated outputs must be critically reviewed and validated before being used in testing or release decisions.
