Our Engineering team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the systems and technologies that drive Unifonic’s solutions. We work closely with other departments to ensure our products and services meet the needs of our customers. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to join our team as a SMS Product Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for our SMS Channel as a product. This role involves managing the full product lifecycle, including strategy, development, and delivery, with a focus on APIs and the technical aspects of SMS communication protocols, including SMPP. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the SMS ecosystem and a strong technical background to effectively align product capabilities with business goals and customer needs.
Help us shape the future of communication by:
Owning the SMS Channel as a product, including APIs, infrastructure, and integrations, and define its roadmap.
Ensuring the APIs powering the SMS Channel are robust, scalable, and user-friendly, working closely with engineering teams.
Leveraging expertise in the SMPP protocol for efficient SMS delivery and operations, optimizing for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Conducting market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor strategies, aligning the product to these insights.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, marketing, and sales, to deliver a seamless SMS product experience.
Defining and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report the product's success, leveraging data insights to inform decisions.
Creating and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including API specifications and use cases.
Providing training and support to internal teams and customers on product functionalities.
Job requirements
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
4+ years of experience in Product Management, preferably in telecom, messaging, or API-driven products.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with SMPP protocol and SMS delivery mechanisms.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs with experience in API design and integration processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data-driven insights for decision-making.
Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Familiarity with agile methodologies is a plus.
Familiarity with platforms and developer ecosystems.
Previous software development experience building scalable solutions is a plus.
Proven ability to rally technical and cross-functional teams to solve customer challenges.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present roadmaps and product strategy to stakeholders and customers.
Ability to zoom between strategic (big picture) and tactical (hands-on) work as needed.
